Playing a story

Pick a story, say what your character does, and watch the story answer.

You

I climb the bell tower to watch the square unseen.

Success
The story

You reach the balcony. By the well, two figures exchange an envelope.

Illustrative example, written in advance: you write an action, the die rolls, the story answers.
1

Pick a story

Browse the stories and read their opening lines: no spoilers, only what makes you want to go in.

One tap and your table is ready. No settings, nothing to prepare. Your story is yours alone: what happens at other tables never changes it.

2

Say what you do

No menu, no list of choices. You write what your character does, in your own words, the way you would tell it to a friend.

Add what they are aiming for, or a thought they keep to themselves: nobody else will read it. Until the turn is played, you can change your mind.

3

Let the dice speak

When the outcome is uncertain, you first learn how hard it will be. Then the dice roll, in front of you.

The roll decides and the story follows, never the other way around. If something simply cannot be done, you are told why, before anything happens.

4

The story answers

A die spins while the story is being written. Then the next scene unfolds, line by line: what you did, what it changed, what comes next.

The world does not wait for you. Other people have their own plans, and they move too.

5

Chapter after chapter

A story unfolds in chapters. Each one ends with a recap: what your table did, and what changed for your character. Then the next chapter opens.

When the story ends, your table stays open to read again: the scenes, the journal, your character.

6

Come back whenever you like

Play five minutes on the bus or a whole evening. The app shows which tables are waiting for you.

Been away? Catch up with what your character lived, seen through their eyes, and pick up where you left off.

The best way to understand is to play.
